To celebrate the 90th anniversary of Pluto™, the New Zealand Mint has struck those two Disney™ coins.
The set in proof quality contains a silver coin struck from one ounce of 99.9% silver in color and a gold coin struck from a 1/4 ounce of 99.99% pure gold.
The motives of both coins feature Mickey™ giving his original buddy Pluto™ the biggest hug. The silver coin also shows the inscription "ORIGINAL BUDDIES" engraved on the background.
The reverse of both coins depicts the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II as well as the denomination and year of issue. Pluto™ is a special character from Disney, because unlike many other characters he is not anthropomorphic. Pluto™ is and remains a dog, an animal, and he does not speak, but yaps and growls like a normal dog. He was named after the celestial body Pluto, which was discovered in 1930, the same year that Disney invented the figure. The mintage of the set is strictly limited to a maximum of only 100 pieces worldwide.
Both coins are delivered in the original wooden boxes including the numbered certificates of authenticity from the New Zealand Mint. - An absolute highlight for all Disney™ fans !
