This coin is part of a large New Zealand Mint range featuring Disney characters; one of six coins in the Mickey and Friends mini-series, it is dedicated to Mickey Mouse.
Mickey Mouse is the leader of the Disney cartoons and the mascot for the Walt Disney company. Mickey first appeared on 18th November, 1928 in "Steamboat Willie", where he drove a steamboat and faced who would become his worst enemy, Pete. A cheerful and mischievous human-like rodent, he went on to appear in more than 100 cartoon shorts and movies.
